WT Society Makes Light of Child Abuse Crimes by Portraying them as Cartoons
by flipper ini commented on this on another thread- but i believe this has enough importance to create a thread about this situation in and of itself.
at the current district convention as you know the wt society released a " sophie & caleb " video allegedly warning parents about the dangers of child abuse.
they don't really use the words " child abuse " in the video - but just say if " someone tries to touch you in a manner you aren't comfortable with " and portray it as a cartoon !

Fun at The WT This Morning
by OneFingerSalute inso ofs was at the wt this morning, and on par.
14 the question was, "what trust can a faithful christian whose relative is disfellowshipped have?".
after awhile when no one else raised their hands ofs did, and was called on.. ofs commented, "one of jw can have the trust that god will lovingly give them the ability to uphold the disfellowshipping arrangement by totally shunning family members.".

by Clambake inmy wife has a friend at her kh.
she is 37 and her friend is 88. i know it sounds kind of strange but they are both the wives of ubm so they kind of stick together.
my wife is very sincere in this friendship and this lady is a nice person.

Has there been new counsel about Facebook recently?
by purrpurr ini've noticed increasing amounts of jw's are coming off fb and deactivating completely.
all with the same reason which they post about at lenght which is that they wwant to focus more on their spiritual life and not have the distraction of fb.. have i missed something or is this just a coincidence?.

"We Already Forgive Him" - What Does That Mean?
by cofty inthe children of one of yesterday's shooting have told the media that they have already forgiven the killer for what he did.. dylaan roof has not apologised for what he did.
he hates black people and probably regrets not killing even more.. what does it really mean to forgive?.
if the legal system asked the victims relatives what they want done next would they ask for dylaan to go free and unpunished?.

I haven't read all four pages of to thread, so hopefully I'm not repeating someone else's two cents. . . . . .
I don't believe in forgiveness, at least not in the Christian sense.
It's a "one-size-fits-all" type of nonsense.
Car cuts in front of me in the morning commute: I forgive you.
You are a Ministerial Servant who molested three children: I forgive you.
You cheated me out of my change when I paid for lunch: I forgive you.
You shot my dearest loved one to death: I forgive you.
I actually feel no need to forgive over any of these things, but I'm not going to jump all over someone for a bad move on the highway or that you made the wrong change at the deli.
The problem is that religions treat all of these "sins" as the same thing.
Any rational person should realize they aren't.

by nicolaou ini'm not judging these poor young people, if this is how they are coping with the trauma of losing their mum i can only wish them well.
i have to admit though that my jaw dropped when i first saw this interview, i couldn't square their reaction with what i understand as 'normal' human grief.. is this religiously motivated form of forgiveness a positive thing?
should i acknowledge this as something to be said in favour of religion?.
